I have a Japanese-made Squier Stratocaster, and I want to install some heavy strings, as the thread title indicates. I'm wondering if the structural integrity of the instrument will be able to handle the increased tension (about 180 lbs total). I know what I have to modify; tremolo springs, truss rod. I just don't know if it'll be able to take the tension. It's a really solid guitar, but it's also a big change. Has anyone here ever tried this before?

I put some .13s on my squire before. No problems with set-up. The string have a nice tone, as they are really resonant, but it's like like playing piano wire. They're good for jazz or if you hate doing pitch bends. If the strings ever broke they could kill a man.
