what if you're sober. do you have to take the breathalyzer test every time you want to make a call?

and drunk dialing 911 isnt a good idea, i must say.

that's stupid, really really bad idea, for one drunk phonecalls are great fun, and secondly how would you get in touch with people to tell them to pick you up or that it's an awesome party (and before you say, why not use your mobile, why not use your mobile to prank call?)

A breathaliser (sp?) in a car would be more useful

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks so.

self control is probably a more suitable weapon to combat silly drunken calls.

I wouldn't like the thought of having one in my house phone...so far I have avoided my family knowing that I drink...this would ruin it :@

This.

Why would you want to stop yourself from making angry drunk phone calls? They're hilarious. That a definite reason to do them.

Awful idea. Picture this. Someone is drunk at someone else's house. They know they shouldn't be driving, so they ask the host if they can use their phone. The host says ok, so they try to call a friend to come pick them up, but the phone won't let them. They decide to forget it and drive home, and hit someone and kill several small children.

Fuck no, can't phone a taxi home cus I'm pished?

Well said.

I think the only thing about it that's close to being a good idea is having one on your mobile so if you decide to have a swift pint after work you don't get carried away and drive home.

They're developing a new range of prototype Nissans I think, that dont allow the car's engine to start if the driver is over the limit.

It's a good idea but it has certain flaws.

The main one, imagine that you have gone to the pub and had two pints. You are still fine, but over the limit in the eyes of the law. You decide to walk home as you are still in a sensible mind-frame. Out of no-where, the kraken destroys all local taxi firms and everyone you know that can drive and now he's after you. Your only means of avoiding death is that car.

Either a flaw in this system or the next big movie. You decide.

Actually no, you're not still fine. that's WHY you're over the limit in the eyes of the law.

I reckon if they put those in phones then how would people ring a taxi?
Those things are expensive anyway, that's why they aren't in cars. They have to be calibrated regularly.
