I'm in the process of looking for a new guitar. The nearest Fender dealer that sells Fenders (and not Squiers and knock-offs exclusively) is about an hour and a half away, so I call upon you to maybe give me a bit of assistance.

I'm torn between the American Standard Telecaster, the J. Mascis Jazzmaster, or a Jaguar. I want something that's really bright that can stand up to a lot of Clash-style punk and an array of indie rock. I have a Les Paul right now and I want something to counter-act that. Any suggestions?
I'd like to grow up to be Charles Thompson.

Gear:

Fender American Standard Telecaster
Epiphone Les Paul Standard

VOX AC30 CC2X
VOX Pathfinder 15R

Line 6 DL4
Vox Original Wah

get a ibanez and mod it for coil cut output
Coil cut output? Doesn't that involve soldering?

Don't bother getting an Ibanez for the musicm you are playing. The Tele is your best choice on that one.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
