It depends on the music you want to play and what pickups you are using but generally strats are guitar that can do just about anything. The tele is a guitar that can do things like blues and country very well but it's not nearly as versital as a strat. If you want to play a little bit of everything then the strat is a better guitar. If you have a few types of music that you like to play and they all sound best on a tele then the tele is a better guitar. At the end of the day it all depends on what you want to do with it.

You my sir are gravely mistaken.

Telecasters are not warmer than strats. They are one of the brightest sounding guitars I have ever played. How can you say the tele is warmer then the strat's neck pickup?
