Sad about Discordance Axis break up due to their guitarist.

Discordance Axis was good, but Amber Gray slays their entire discography.

Hah, I'm jealous of the shirt. I'll probably never be able to see a single one for a long time. If its anything like the artwork on the front of the booklet, Ill buy it in an instant though.

Seriously though, Amber Grey has gotten a lot of spins. Its an album you can easily listen to multiple times and enjoy. Technical Grindcore done right.

When listening to it, you ever think of video games? A lot of the songs give off a sick video game.... "vibe" Is the best way I can put it.

Finally got my lazy arse into gear and got hold of Amber Grey. Woah what an intense little album. It's even more ferocious than Discordance Axis as far as speed goes. Definitely a lot more metally that's for sure. I think I prefer the old DxAx material though, but that is irrelevant as this is a great album. I doubt it would ever happen but if they came to the Uk I would cry like a little girl.

The album art from Chang is amazing.

Some of my favorite Grind ever.

Only one CD, knock yourself out dude. If you like them, check out Discordance Axis, very similar.

Stoked.

Hopefully they tour, it'd be great to see them live.

The point of underground bands is their not popular or famous most of the time. Thus there is a good chance they suck.

orphan's out now, hoping someone out there will upload that shit pronto

orphan's already out? I saw some teasers and promo's for it, chang's bringing back some dxax vox but the rest of the mix sounds a tad more buried than amber gray

and maybe gridlinks too intense for you

but seriously, i cant really listen to gridlink while waiting for the bus or whatever, its more spastic brain meltdown music for weightlifting and overloading your cns.
#22
I'll be on the lookout for Orphan. I can't get enough of Amber Gray. It's what, 12 minutes long?

i dont know if i'd label gridlink "grind", they just bring totally different things to the table. I think its mostly the dxax history that makes people think they're supposed to be grind or deathgrind, i think they're just unrelentless extreme metal

i actually had no idea it was twelve minutes when i first listened to it, i thought it was a good example of "all killer no filler"

Gridlink and Discordance Axis are the only tech-grind bands I really listen to. Despite how tech it is it still manages to be ridiculously aggressive and somehow primal.

Technical and grind: Some of my least favorite things in extreme music. Meh.

So it seems that Gridlink has played their last shows in Tokyo and are now broken up :/

However, they recorded their upcoming album Longhena in two days and it should be coming out in the winter. It's supposed to be their longest album at 20 something minutes, and I'm stoked for it. They were and still are probably my favorite metal band and it sucks that they may never play shows or release any more material, but at least they will have left (almost) an hour of the most intense and original grindthrash ever.

Here's a video of their preshow rehearsal... Bryan Fajardo is the king of blasts

Shame to hear these guys are calling it. A lot of grind is usually shit but these guys really brought the riffs.

Jon Chang posted somewhere that Longhena is going be 24 minutes + Amber Gray & Orphan (24 minutes) = 48 mins

Listening to almost an hour of Gridlink would be absolutely draining and awesome. I'm going to work on learning all of Gridlink's material on guitar... I think I've developed the chops to pick up most of the riffs with some practice, the hard part will be figuring parts out without tabs.

Oh, and this is cool - Gridlink's first song, which was in DxAx's last rellease in 2004:

I wonder if they'll do a reissue of the first two combined with the new one? I slept on getting that Amber Grey/Orphan LP which I'm kicking myself for.
