So, I've writting a lot of songs recently, but their all in the Em key. A friend of mine pointed out that I could be using a different key.
So UG, what new chord/key should I use? I like City and Colour/Spill Canvas kind of songs and I'd consider myself an intermediate type acoutsic player, if that helps.

just transpose all the chords from one of your progressions up a few fretsa nd see what happens. obviously, this invloves barre chords, if you can't do them then your stuffed like a turkey.

Yes, there are many other chords you can use. Basically, just pick a letter in the alphabet before H, (this involves a thorough knowledge of the alphabet) and... shazam! Its that easy!

You could use a capo, then you just play the normal chord shapes.
