I need a versatile amp , i play some all out cleans but also some metal, ranging from metallica to avenged sevenfold to slayer. I was looking for a tube combo and a pedal or maybe an mfx depending on how much i have after i buy my amp. My budget is around 650 dollars. But i could probably push another 50 dollars. I have a schecter 006 elite Diamond series.

I was looking at a valveking 112 (combo)
Bugera 6260 combo
or a Classic 30 with a mfx pedal to help push it into metal zone.

Well any advice on an amp/pedal? (im gonna be getting this in a month or 2 but i want to play ahead)

used mesa f-30/50 depending on the headroom you need and a tubescreamer

for about 700 you can pick up a mesa f-30 there great amps

$700 for one is a ripoff, I'd be looking closer to $500.

Definitely check out the Bugera or a used 5150/6505 though... you might want a bit more gain than the F30 has to offer, and they've got that department covered. For cleans though, the F30 wins hands down.

^ also agreed.

good call. i'd also consider a kustom coupe (probably used as well).

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

I'd say an F-30 as well

thx.... but what mfx pedal to get with it i have 250

im thinking of getting a LINE-6 POD XT LIVE, or something similair because i hate playing songs and not being able to match the tone

Multi fx pedals dont go good with tube amps man, look into single effects

ok, i thought mfx would be more convenient.... but what i need are a wah/volume pedal and a metal pedal, i was thinking a distortion factory, i have a 150 dollar budget,

anyways, is it impossible to use a mfx with a tube, because i really would prefer that due to my lower budget
#12
1. no its not impossible to use mfx with tube, it will just not sound good at all

2. you wouldnt want to just throw away the stock distortion on the mesa. i would recommend an OD pedal rather than distortion. really popular ones are the Digitech Bad Monkey (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/DigiTech-Bad-Monkey-Tube-Overdrive-Pedal?sku=150831) and the Ibanez Tube Screamer (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-TS9-Tube-Screamer-Effects-Pedal-Original-Reissue?sku=150284

3. for a wah and a volume pedal in one, look at the Morley Power Wah Volume Pedal http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Morley-Power-Wah-Volume-Pedal?sku=150788

yeah distortion pedals dont work with tube amps good, its like buying a nice corvette, and putting an escort engine in it, haha. just get an OD, i recommend the bad monkey

Generally speaking, yes. But if your amp doesn't have nearly enough gain/ has a really vintage- sounding OD channel and you're looking for a nu- metal tone, then boosting the onboard gain with an OD probably wouldn't sound as good as a distortion pedal through the clean channel.

Also, using a multi- fx solely for the purpose of effects and not bothering with amp models and distortion patches might be a good idea if he wants to mess around with a lot of different effects.

I may have found another option....
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Peavey-Vypyr-Tube-120-120W-2x12-Guitar-Tube-Amp-482913-i1413610.gc
the peavey vypyr tube.

also i would get the Sanpera II footswitch with it

And pardon the noob questions but if i got an OD pedal (bad monkey) would that make it easier to match OD tones? Because I want a way to be able to match tones of the artists i am playing.

I have heard the Boss ME-50 was pretty good even through a tube? any thoughts

Thanks

Try a Digitech metal master. it has a killer sound and can go from iron maiden to system of a down, and its $90 .

this guys a S.F.M. dont even consider a bad monkey. It cant even be put in an overdrive catogory. Its crap in a gay green box.

Ok so with my 650-700 budget i am looking at a
used Mesa F-30 or 50
Digitech Bad Monkey
Morley Power Wah Volume Pedal

or....

I think i might get a boss me-50 because it has no modeling and ive heard it through a twin reverb and it sounded great.... do you think that would sound good through a F-30or 50?
