Agreed.
When an archeologist finds ancient remains that have Biblical Hebrew written all over it, he'd be pretty screwed if no one could actualy read Biblical Hebrew.
Same goes for Egyptian Hieroglyphs, Latin, Mesopotamian, Ogham and a whole host of other ancient languages and scripts.
If we wish to find out about our past, knowledge of these languages are essential for decoding ancient writings.
