ok soo i might as well start the idea thread since i conjured up the madness.

this would be my list on the albums for each shredder. Feel free to disagree with me and throw out a new album suggestionor even a new shredder/album suggestion.

ALBUMS:
Jason Becker- Perpetual Burn / Perspective(i could be going out on a limb)
Marty Friedman- Dragon Kiss / Scences (i cant make up my mind)
Yngwie Malmsteen- Rising Force
Tony MacAlpine- Maximum Security
John Petruicci- Suspended Animation
Steve vai- Alien Warfare
Stach- Surfing With the Alien
Buckethead- Monsters and Robots ( i doubt we are all going to come to a general consensus on a Buckethead album)
Shawn Lane- Powers of Ten
Michael Romeo- The Dark Chapter
Rusty Cooley- Rusty Cooley

NOW songs would have to be severly debated and thought out before we considered doing it. Ya know to fit everyones liking.

So throw your ideas out thier but please give a description why becuase just stating an album with no reason, to me, makes ur opinion void (IE Colma by Buckethead, cause its the only acoustic album made by a shredder, GIVE DETAILS!)

Satch - The Extremist: IMO, more of a shred oriented album than Surfing
Steve Vai - Passion and Warfare: happens to be my favorite album by him.
Paul Gilbert - Get Out Of My Yard: all intrumental guitar, plus I haven't gotten Silence Followed by
a Deafening Roar yet
Jason Becker - Perpetual Burn: it needs to have teh guit4rz!
Marty Friedman - Dragon's Kiss: again, my favorite album by him.

Satch - Surfing with the Alien
Michael Romeo - The Dark Chapter

Buckethead - Giant Robot

This album is probably the all around best(for BH) you could make for this elimination idea. Monsters and Robots works alright but I think Giant Robot contains more diversity so it can be more agreed upon. Not to mention it has some killer songs

Binge and Grab, Welcome to Buckethead Land, Want Some Slaw?, I Love my Parents, Post Office Buddy and of course more of the songs are great too.

I am willing to agree upon other albums though. Anyone else have a suggestion of his? I'm alright with Monsters & Robots. I think Giant Robot might be better for this though.
#9
personally i dind tlike Giant Robot. Alot of short songs, Post office buddy is just strange and personally i dont like his licks in that song.

Monstors and Robots - Night of the Slunk, Ballad of Bhead, Nun Chuka Kata, etc

IMO monsters and robots is he premium shred album

Why is everyone spelling Satch wrong? :p

Jason Becker- Perpetual Burn without a doubt
Marty Friedman- Dragon Kiss
Yngwie Malmsteen- Rising Force
Tony MacAlpine- Maximum Security
John Petruicci- Suspended Animation
Steve vai- Passion and Warfare
Satch- Surfing With the Alien although not so sure on this, I wouldnt say any of his albums were "all out shred"
Shawn Lane- Powers of Ten
Michael Romeo- The Dark Chapter
Rusty Cooley- Rusty Cooley
Jeff Loomis - Zero Order Phase
Guthrie Govan - Erotic Cakes (deserves a mention if not really all out shred)
Michael Angelo Batio (Dont like him myself but worth a mention i guess) - No Boundaries
Paul Gilbert - Silence Followed by Deafening Roar
Vinnie Moore - Mind's Eye

I'm fine with Monsters and Robots myself. So I guess my vote will go with Monsters and Robots.

You can also include me on JB's Perpetual Burn.

Majority rules on that as well. Go with Rising Force.

HOWEVER,
We could use some more opinion...only 5 people contributed. I'd say wait a while for some of the other Shred regulars to pitch in their 2 cents.

ok for friedman definitely dragons kiss, i couldnt get into scenes at all X(. surfing with the alien definitely, passian and warfare is my fav vai album =D. I've never heard of the dark chapter =O. Should we really be allowing Loomis's album onto the list seeing as how it's not actually out yet?

I also vote for Silence Followed... by PG instead of GOOMY; I just preferred it.

For Malmsteen, definately Rising Force. I'm going to buy Silence Followed... later this week. I'll give an opinion then.

I'd say Surfing with the Alien for Satch and Passion and Warfare for Vai.
A samurai once asked Zen Master Hakuin where he would go after he died. Hakuin answered 'How am I supposed to know?'
'How do you not know? You're a Zen master!' exclaimed the samurai.
'Yes, but not a dead one,' Hakuin answered.

I'm cool with Venus Isle and Introspection.

And last time I checked my record collection and wikipedia, the Marty Friedman album is called Dragon's Kiss, not Dragon Kiss.

When and if we do songs, this is pretty much my list, maybe Castle Dragon instead of Gargoyle for PG though.

Freak Show Excess is currently my fave Vai song as well, and almost pushed me over to vote for Real Illusions.

Re-read the thread title and first post

Yeah but when following the thread it is mainly talking of Album. So, from what I read we are creating a Album elimination and not a song elimination. Just what I have picked up.
