Hi everyone,

I recently got myself a Ibanez RG350 and love it, though I want to upgrade the pickups. I'm not to sure where to start looking for them or what brand/type is the go for what I play.

I usually play blues, classic rock, anything Zappa I can handle and Also I'm planning on doing a jazz/contempory music class next year so I'm guessing i need something that is versatile and good with most genres.

Price limit is about $400AUD though it can be flexible and I'm not sure of prices so it might be only enough for like just a decent humbucker or something

Enlighten me

the classic '57's are really nice from gibson.
or the Evolution(Vai's signatures) or satch's pickups by Dimarzio? i believe.

Are the Evolution's DiMarzio?

I have heard some good things about the DiMarzio PAF Pro's.

Anything I should know about them?

maybe a PAF style pickup like the Dimarzio PAF Pro or Duncan Custom would be nice.
Ibanez RG321MH (Air Classic/Tone Zone)
Fernandes Telecaster (Twang King/stock bridge pickup)
Blackstar HT-20 (Scumback 55 speaker/ Tung Sol tubes)

I like my Seymour Duncans! Lol I have a 59' in the neck and the distortion in the bridge and I can coil tap both so it makes plenty of tonal options, its awesome!

At the moment I have a ****ty Marshal MG15 CDR.

I'd be using supplied amps at school and I use my music teachers am when I play anywhere else.

A new amp is next on the list, saving to get one about Christmas time.

evolutions are too hot for blues, classic rock or zappa.
unless you're playing with the volume knob dialed halfway.

why dont you just not spend the money on pickups now so you can get a better amp later...

omg, that's so smart

I mostly will be playing on school amps for things that matter so I'm thinking pickups first.

Pair od Dimarzio Breeds - you certainly don't want Evos, not what you're after at all.

well, at the moment we got a 60watt marshal valve state or I use a Zoom 1.1x through a DI into the PA system.

Not sure what the tafe has for next year though.

Pickups are probably a waste of money then. Save up for a good amp or maybe a nicer guitar with nice pickups already in it.
