How do you do this? It doesn't seem to be in the stickied FR thread.

I remember when I was really young, I had a wet dream in which i was being dragged along an urban countryside by a pickup truck.

Don't ask me I have no idea how the hell it happened.

I'm trying to decide which 7 to get and since I've recently discovered tech death a la Nile, I'm wondering how hard it would be to tune to Drop A.

Can drop A be done with fine tuners?

No.

If you want to do anything more than Drop D you're going to have to re-string with a heavier gauge and re-balance the bridge.

For Drop D you can keep the same strings but you'll still need to re-balance the bridge by loosening the springs a bit.

Did nobody see the thing I said about a 7 string?

So a whole step will be fine?

You'll still need to re-balance the bridge though - it doesn't matter how you tune the string, it's still going to decrease the tension.

From my experience with various Floyds, dropping one string by a whole step doesn't change the tension enough to create much difference. Every now and then I may play with the other fine tuners a bit, but it's never required major set up work to do that change.

yeah i tune my RG with a floyd to drop D all the time and it doesnt change the bridge position at all.
