Before I answer and not to derail the flow for a second but if you are a Floyd fan (and I bet you are because you checked out this thread) then if you are not aware that Roger Waters has Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck on his solo albums, you are missing some other great, and somehow tragically obscure guitar performances. Pro's and Con's of Hitchhiking and Amused to Death are incredible.

My favorite solo and probably song, as well, with Gil: The Final Cut
comfortably numb

How has no one said Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2?? It's easily the best solo and his tone is sick on it.

I practiced nothing but Floyd for about 5 hrs yesterday. There are to many excellent solo's to list, but the song I enjoy playing the most is shine on you crazy diamond. Took me almost 3 months to learn it last year, but I love that song. The 2 easiest ones to learn are Brain Damaged and Breathe. For floyd fans the "learn to play" Dvd's by lapointe and humphries are a must have.

Theres just too many to name, and I know its off Gilmours solo album "On an Island", but The Blue is just tremendous.

yes I was just about to say that one.

Echoes (Live at Pompeii)

I agree here, not my all time fave though but awesome solo nonetheless. I'm not sure what solo would be my fave, I love the solo to On The Turning Away, great under rated Pink Floyd song too. Comfortably Numb from Pulse solo got me into guitar playing but hmm I've always loved the 1st solo in Comf. Numb, people overlook that one sometimes. Too many to list though.
Also to the guy who said Shine on You Crazy Diamond, you're right on. Not many guitarists can pull off such a sweet intro, so soulful and sends you into another time and place such as Gilmour in that song. When you look at the tab its not very technical but its all about his bends and the time inbetween notes that makes him shine with that guitar, no pun intended

Time or Comfortably Numb. I prefer Comfortably Numb myself.

That song is just amazing. The solo itself is among the best of his.

Money is also high up there for me! And of course Another Brick In The Wall Pt. II
