Hey ug.

I'm looking for a song that has a really scary feel to it. The mouth organ in "Last Flowers" by Radiohead is a good example. It would be even better if it sounded atonal because I think that is really interesting.

Anyway thanks in advance to anyone who contributes something.

Opeth and Mattias "IA" Eklundh are pretty much the kings of atonal stuff.

Check out Opeth's "Ghost of perdition". It's very angular, but very melodic in an interesting way. Also very long.

Hm I don't think GoP is that atonal.
To TS: if you don't mind classical music, try some Schönberg.

It's certainly angular. Maybe I'm confusing atonal with something.

Does atonal = dissonant? Or simply not very harmonius?

Freaking Meshuggah. Polyrhythmic, mono-tonal singing, atonal riffs that will make your balls drop.

EDIT: ^ I don't think he is thinking objectively. If you listen to a lot of Prog and metal than Opeth is not that atonal. But if your used to listing to classic rock and modern rock where the 7th is considered dissonant then the diminished scale certainly could scare you off a bit.
Sig What?

Download some 20th century classical.

I recall one composer wrote an entire piece of music and then threw the pages up in the air, picked them up as they were, and then called it a finished work. Nearly all 20th century classical music is horridly atonal and just plain weird.

Thanks everyone, i'm checking all of it out on youtube. Does anyone remember the name of that Japanese classical symphony(?) that was a tribute to the Hiroshima bombing?
