*edit*

Forgive my dyslexia

I'm watching NBC15 and they reported that this 18 (or 19) y.o killed a cab driver because he played to much GTA without stopping, for about 2 or more months.

They interviewed some parents, the typcical "Oh its the games fault its making them numb to killing people. aka "blah blah blah I don't understand video games because I never play them so I am going to blame them"

Bad Parent > "Bad" Video Game

Parent shouldn't have let the kid play the game that much.

Just needed to vent.

How does everyone else feel on this?

FLT? What? Do you mean FTL?

And yes, the problem lies with parents and or kid. Not the game.

Video games don't cause crime, it's the idiots that play them that do. Hell, just idiots in general cause crime.
#4
heard that happend in taiwan or osemting so they are banning the game there because the kid said that he "wanted to see if it was as easy as in the game" tahts waht g4 said anyways.

i think people need to see that its just a game. there's nothing wrong with playing the game for fun if the player knows its a game. I do play it a lot, but it's not like i'm gunna run out and kill people, stealing cars and all.

i hate the controversy and all that, people should just look at it for what it is; a game.

Saying the Red Hot Chili Peppers have no talent is like saying Guy Fawkes didn't have an epic mustache.

I think that video games do have some sort of influence. I mean, its incredibly minor, but it does teach kids ways to kill people. But the media sort of implies that games actually force kids to get up and kill people. Which I know is a ton of bull****.

Everyone knows that video games make people sit down and think of killing people. No gamer is gonna go through all that work of getting up and killing people...

you're not alone man... most people just hate wasting their breath about it.... funny how these white, uptight mothers who have never had an orgasm take their frustration out on video games and music alike. its also hilarious that these hipocrits strongly believe that god has a plan but they cry out everytime something bad happens.... any one else find that a bit ironic?

Well I don't play GTA or kill people. So there's obviously a connection in the opposite direction.

In further news a 14 year old boy got 9 below par at the US open because he "Played the **** out of Tiger Woods Golf on the xbox"

after playing GTA i was never the same i fantasized about killing people and stealing cars and got infatuated with the criminal underworld.
see i could go on a rampage and say that getting me a lighter sentence for my crimes.
what a world we live in eh?

hahahahaha.... thats stupid. theres a LARGE difference between shooting someone in a game; and loading a gun, aiming it at a living, innocent person and ending their life.

Too lazy to make a sig right now. I'll do it some other time.

No, no, no. It's not the game's fault. Stop shifting the blame. It's the kid.

I've been playing Devil May Cry 4, clearly I'm going to sprout a fucked up arm and start slaying demons.

Parents like to think that it's not their fault and blame it on video games/movies/internet that their retarded son/daughter is out committing crime.

I'm in love with that avatar

I remember my AP English teacher played GTA 3 for about 16 hours straight when it first came out.

When he got in his car to go to work the next day, he found himself doing 90 in a school zone and having to fight the urge to run over pedestrians before he pulled over and told himself that he needs to cut down on GTA

gave the class teh lulz when he told us.

don't bring god into this, but yeah I play videogames a bit and can't really see how a game can motivate someone to do this

People who say video games dont influence people are wrong though.
Porn games influence people to sex/fap.
music games (guitar hero) influence me to play guitar.
And playing yoshi influences me to go commit terrorist attacks on america.

i have nothing against god (if there even is one), however i do have a terrible problem with people who inflict judgement and hatred onto others in God's name which is often the case. These weakened meek mother****ers take no responsibility and blame everything on anything but themselves.

"if a kid ****s up then boy the parents had nothing to do with it, must be those kids he hangs out with at the parking lot.. but when the kid is a success then they're the first one's out there trying to take some credit."

Nobody seems to blame movies either. An "M" rated game can be compared to "R" rated movies. They both can have a lot of violence and adult content. But games just seem to be the scapegoat for all the stupid people who decide to kill for real. They just say, "oh, he played GTA, so naturally this has to be why he wanted to kill and not the fact that he was in a gang or associated with gang members and drug dealers."

Everyone wants a reason why people do the things they do, but they don't take the time to look into what was wrong with the person. By that time it's too late.
