i want to become an aeronautical enginner for the RAF (designing planes and such) and i'm really interested in going to welbeck 6th form, i just want to know about any experiences anyone has had.

if you've been have you ever been forced to do anything that you didn't want to do? thats my main concern, i don't want to be on the front line doing anything (yes i am a pussy.)

If you go they will bundle you into a box, have you polishing planes in Iraq before you know it.

Oh, and being flight crews sex toy.

So dont worry, do it!!

If you want to be designing planes for the RAF you're probably better off working for a company such as BAE systems, or a company that actually designs, builds, and then sells planes to the Armed Forces.

Welbeck= bad. You do NOT get weekends free. I had the opportunity to go (uncle is a high ranking army officer- he reached major at 26) and didn't because of the strict regime.

You can't design planes in the RAF, but you can join as an engineer and then design them when you go on to civvy street. I won't type more here, add me on msn tdg1000@hotmail[dot]com if you want more advice and help.

Much better looking, in my opinion.

Spitfire is fast. And nothing else.
Just like Eddie Van Halen.

EDIT: You live in Amersham. I don't suppose you're into BMXs are you? and if so do you know a guy called Rich? (I don't know his surname)

Spitfires are beautiful planes. I do like the lightning too I have to admit. I must say that I think the Hurricane is totally under rated compared to the Spitfire.

Erm, I'm not really into them, but it's hard not to know people who do it because it's one of the only things to do here. I know a few Rich's, but not well enough to know surnames either

Yes. The hurricane wiped out most of the luftwaffe...compared to the spitfire.

aha fair enough. Well this dude is like 19/20, wears rectangular glasses, black hair and has some tattoos on his arm. I'm wondering because he's my gf's ex and lives in Amersham. I need to kind of...tell him to back off as he's still trying to contact her 18 months after she dumped him for cheating on her

You won't be designing planes in the RAF.
If you want to design planes, a BEng in Aero Engineering is a must, followed by an MEng to get you chartered engineer status with the IEEE and RAeS. Good universities include Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester, but investigate UCAS as required. A lot of my friends want to finish their degree and then enter into the RAF or FAA as Flight Engineers, but they will just be babysitting planes, don't expect fancy research. If you want to do that, BAe Systems or other companies are where you want to be.

P.S.
I'm an Aerospace Engineering Student, so PM me if you want further info.

No, the Spitfire had a much tighter rate of turn than the Hurricane, and this is what gave it the critical edge in combat, matched only by the BF109. It was a highly superior airframe in almost all ways, although it is of course historical fact that the Hurricane contributed more AA kills than the Spitfire.
