So I bought a used Gibson SG some while ago and it works great, but I'm not sure what exact model it is.

and I noticed a number on the back of the headstock, so is there any way to identify my guitar with this number?

if not I can post some pictures

I believe that number is the serial number of the guitar and it allows you to identify it , so I've heard

It could be an older '61 reissue, maybe from the 90's?

I suggest you check the serial number. There's something on Gibson's site that let's you identify the year it was made by the serial number.

I think those came out the 70s and 80s. The relocation of the pickup switch tells me so.

yeah, that was the thing I noticed different too.

also, I have the input jack in the side of the guitar (wich I perfer)

also, the guitar is 18 years old if that helps(lucky for me it was barley used)

anybody got a link to the place where you can check the number on the headstock?

I found a page where I typed in the serial number, but it only said when it was built and not the model
