throw bass strings on it... drop tune to A, beat the crap out of it, sustain till they cut the power off, mega low-end crunch, squelling harmonics, and super fast speed blast.

really... what guitar is mostly used in the death metal scene? if money wasn't an issue(don't get too crazy) who makes the badest death metal axe? i know it's not the guitar but the skill of the player of how good they will sound. i also understand that each artist has their own taste in equipment...

No bass strings, not necassary..... just.. no.

Well.

Honestly majority go to Jackson, Esp.

then right behind, if not with is ibanez.

Then 2 companies to look at that IMO blow both away Edwards(jap esp) and Caparison

If i wasnt lefty i would so get a caparison, they are beautiful, great specs, more frets then i would need..

i could go on and on.

i heard both the jackson and the ibanez... i have to say the jackson owns that design. better built quality and it's lighter...

ESP for popular metal bands
Jackson for the more underground ones, or those in the 90's
KxK for rich people who want neck-thru flying V's
Ran guitars for Eastern Europeans
Ibanez for most metal styles
Caparison for avant-garde shredders with good contacts (they're hard to find)

You can use pretty much any guitar, but most go for Jacksons and ESPs and such.

Everyone copies designs.

Ibanez is the only one that gets grief for it, been that way for ages.

Er...what?
Low end BC Riches suck because they're made of crappy wood, they feel cheap and sound muddy.

However, in the 80's, and in their custom shop, they still kick ass. They began to suck in the 90's because the demand for metal guitars dropped greatly. Now, they've improved, but they still aren't as good as they used to be.

I've seen a few people with a lot of Caparisons, but I dunno if they were endorsed. I've never seen one in a store. Maybe they only sell them in America and Japan...

I was looking at those Ran custom guitars yesterday
an average setup seems to come to around 1000€ and you can get it to your exact specifications, sweet deal if metal is you style

Which is really fuggin' cheap, cos most pro-level stock guitars are more than that.

1000 euros is what a Fender American strat costs in Germany.

dude, their guitars rule!!!! i can't remember which cannibal corpse dvd i watched with pat obrien jamming a ran. he was shredding like a beast and you could barely hear the strings or any kind of mechanical sound from the guitar... straight notes. those guitars are bad a$$!!!!! here's a link....

Actually, Pat O'Brien from Cannibal Corpse and Jeff Waters from Annihilator are both north-Americans and they both have Ran sig guitars.
Really, there's a huge variety of guitars that can play death metal. The only things more specific are the amps.
