In order for us (the forums) to help, you need to post a chord progression at least. A main riff might help also, and a recording would be better, but the chord progression is kind of essential.

1) Make up riff
2) Make sure riff is decent
3) Make a harmony
4) fast solo
5) learn how to do previous 4 well.
6) dare i say it...(profit) :p
I didnt want to cause soem guy in the thread about bugs just did but it fits this situation as well..

you want to play melodic solos?

learn what a melody is

learn what phrasing is

learn to use your ear (you have to be able to hear melodies if you want to play them)

learn, memorize, be able to play melodies ( and melodic solos)

then try to make your own

(learning the theory/scales goes without saying)
shred is gaudy music
