I have been playing for 3 months now and want to start playing some lead guitar and some solo. I had a go at stairway to heaven solo but found it too hard. Can anyone post up some easy lead riffs or solos. I like all aspects of rock except for heavy metal. Thanks

A lot of Maiden, like Hallowed by thy Name, have good leads in them. Hope that isn't to heavy for you, though.

Highway to Hell, by AC/DC, has a great beginner solo.

check out the solo in Jimi Hendrix' Red House (blues sound all the way). It starts off easy and each line gets successively harder, and every part of it on its own sounds good. in fact any lick in that entire song is a great blues riff

thanks im a big fan of hendrix his songs are legendary
is the solo to sunshine of your love by cream easy or a little bit advanced

lol

Iron Maiden is true heavy metal. You're probly thinking of "heavier"metal bands which would go under metalcore, grindcore, death...

Killing in the name, Knights of Cydonia, Exo-politics, those will challenge you a bit but they're very doable

I don't know how you feel about Journey, but the solo to "Don't Stop Believin' " isn't too complex, and it sounds pretty cool.

Also, I think it's possible to nail Purple Haze.

The Unforgiven - Metallica has a nice lead, and the solo is pretty good. I'm just learning it now.

If you like Metallica then you can do the solos on For Whom The Bell Tolls, they were the first kinda fast solos I could do.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

That's my favourite AC/DC song! :P:

Infact, most of the Highway To Hell album you could do, and maybe some Bad Company solos, like Feel Like Making Love and Can't Get Enough. (Although you'll have to be in open G)
