Hey again pit. Long time no see.

My electric is hiding. At my bandmates house. So all I have is my acoustic left to serenade me .

I was wondering if anyone had any links to cool acoustic songs, that have been transcribed from rock (mainly, but any genre will do). Thought I should learn some for when I get dragged to a guitar at parties. Stuff that the ladies will like is an asset lol.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

INB4 "Go to the Acoustic Thread" I Have. Multiple times. I've learnt quite a few songs from there. But there's only a limited range and I thought the pit would have a much broader selection.

Cheers boys!

Its not exactly good party/ladies material, but you could check out Rodrigo y Gabriela's version of Stairway to Heaven. Its for classical guitar, but I think it still sounds cool on steel string. There's a pretty good tab of it on here too, but I think they play it a little differently in the video.

Obviously, Stairway to Heaven would be a good one. Maybe Behind Blue Eyes by The Who. If your doing party stuff, some Flight of the Conchords would be pretty cool, just to make people laugh.

Layla sounds good on acoustic.

Clapton played with Derek and the Dominos. There's a tab here called 'Layla Unplugged' which is pretty good.

I actually like the acoustic version better than the original.

Umm, Tesla has an acoustic cover of "Signs."

it does. Wish you were here would be a good one. Even if you do shine on you crazy diamond that would sound decent. Pigs on the wing is another floyd one. also try for crying out loud by meatloaf. It's a pretty epic song on an epic album.

Or you could learn Spanish Fly, which is kind of Van Halen's "acoustic answer" to Eruption.

actually "derek" is a mixture of duane (allman) and eric (clapton), considering they were both in it. so you got it half right

I thought it was that they were supposed to be "Eric and the Dynamos" but the chap that introduced them at their first gig got it wrong and the name stuck.

My memory probably isn't as good as it semes though.

They came up with the name "Derek and the Dominoes" before Duane Allman entered the picture.

pardon me - incubus

the acoustic version is cool.

jimi hendrix has an entire cd of him playing only unplugged, many of which are acoustic versions of his rock songs. The cd's pretty short though. It's called "by himself: jimi hendrix" I think.

Sublime also released an all acoustic album, I think it's called "sublime and friends" or something along those lines. It's a good cd.

also check out any zeppelin acoustic stuff: babe i'm gonna leave you, tangerine, hey hey what can i do, your time is gonna come, bron-y-aur, that's the way, and going to california.

Maybe plush by stone temple pilots? and everlong by the foo fighters too.

EDIT: just read that you want to play songs at parties for girls and what not, so you might want to disregard my zeppelin and hendrix suggestions. sublime, incubus, and foo fighters might be more appropriate though, especially sublime stuff.
