I dont understand howto use these, i have 1 string in and it wont stay in tune.

They are schaller 3 per side

if it's the top locking one you just have to tune it, and it locks by itself.

I think the other one you just put a little bit of the string through, tighten the thumb screw and it will lock the string there. Then again I'm just saying this from looking at the pictures, I have never used them so I could be completely wrong.

I have the same machine heads only 6 in line that literally just put on my guitar that i built. i haven't strung it yet but i'm pretty sure you string it normally and then once you have it tuned you tighten down the thumb screws.

You don't string them normally - that's what I thought - and I was initially very disappointed (I'm talking about the ones in Pic B above). You just put the string through the hole, tighten up the thumb screw, and then tune it - you don't want any string wrapped around the post.

I found a "how to" on the web somewhere. They work great if you do it properly.
