Alright, so I have heard that EMGs sound much better when modded to 18v, as they are given much more headroom and become far less compressed sounding.

However, does anyone have experience with how SD Blackouts sound when modded from 9 to 18v?

Blackouts are standard 18V, if im not mistaking. I know the livewires are.

The AHB-1 is 9v, as well as the seven string version.

I don't know about the AHB-2, though.
You've read it, you can't un-read it!

With 18V you get more dynamics. Always better to have more dynamics.

totally agreed. More Dynamics=different sounds with lighter/heavier picking=more versatility=good.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
