I'm looking into getting a switch so I can switch between the clean and top boost channels on my AC30 CC2. I saw in another thread a suggestion of a A/B/Y box, but have since realized there are also A/B boxes, but I can't figure out what the difference is?

Also, why would you want an active A/B/Y box?

If you have any recommendations for these, please also include them! Thanks!

An A/B box switches from one to the other and back again. An A/B/Y allows you to use both aswell. I'd suggest an active one because it'll be buffered and splitting an instrument level signal into two without a buffer is generelly not good.
These go to eleven...

Thanks!

Why do you need the buffer? I can imagine that the A/B/Y box when outputting to both channels could have signal loss, but why would this be necessary for the A/B box then?
