Hi, I am looking for a combo amp for my brother that has a good tone for most kinds of poprock- rock music. His favorite bands are Simple Plan, Paramore, All Time Low, Boys Like Girls.

But on the other hand, he also likes stuff that is a little heavier such as Senses Fail, Silverstein, Just Surrender, Mayday Parade, the newer stuff, etc.

So can you guys help me find a combo amp that would be good for my brother.

This is for his birthday present and I am willing to spend about $400- $550. Possibly $600. He gigs at local venues around here and he is always complaining that his 60w is not loud enough. So I checked out some of the 100w's and above and I came up with these choices.

Peavey Valveking 212 Combo Amp (Tube I think?)

And Also,

So which amp would be the best for his kind of music. I have talked to one of my friends, and he told me to get a used Mesa. But I don't really want to get a used amp as a present, so which combo amp would be the best?

Thank You

I would go with a B-52 AT112. It's a very versatile tube amp. I've heard it has very good cleans and heavy distortion.

Its distortion is weak and thin compared to the B-52 tube amp.
