not the action^

u need to reset the springs int he back of the guitar....if u change to higher gauge strings OR tune up u need to loosen the screw in the claw holding the springs in the back...if u wanna change to lower gauge string OR wanna tune down u need to tighten the screw holding the claw. Always make it so the bridge plate on the fr is parallel to the body.

the are threads on the net about this....look for Floyd Rose setup threads and/or guides

you can use drop tunings on a Floyd Rose no problem... it's just not built for things like trying to drop the low E string to a D during a gig for one song and back up again like you might with a fixed bridge guitar

not only because of the obvious hassle of getting out your allen key to undo the locking nut, but also because lowering the tension in one string knocks all the others out

If you're looking at changing tunings frequently then they're not worth the hassle at all. You need to adjust the springs to ensure the bridge is level, but of course messing with the springs throws the tuning off so you have to re-tune, then do the springs again, then retune etc and keep doing it until it all settles down. It takes a long time even if you're experienced.

Also you can't de-tune with the same strings you use for standard, you need to put heavier strings on for anything lower than drop D if you want to have anything approaching tuning stability. They're designed for being set to one tuning and staying in that tuning extremely well - if you want to muck around with different tunings gewt a fixed bridge.
