Yeah, so I'm getting a new guitar and I can't really decide between a Ibanez PGM301 and a Ibanez JEM77BFP. I've always wanted a JEM, but I don't know what quality this one is, as I've always wanted the 7V.

Also, is there any pros and cons to each of them?

The tremolo on the JEM is making this even harder, as I'd love to have one, but the reason I'm buying a new one is because I can't figure out the Edge III on the one I got now for the life of me...

If you can't figure out the Edge 3 then you'll never figure out the Edge Pro either.

Learn how to use, set up and maintain a Floyd bridge before you buy an expensive guitar with one.

I don't like Floyds myself. I also prefer the maple fretboard over the rosewood. Same for the faux-holes over the monkey grip. I'd totally go for the PGM, but that's me. If you can't handle your Edge 3, you're probably best of with the Paul Gilbert Model. Good luck deciding.

Out of those I'D pick the JEM, but if you aren't into the edge then PGM, however if you "don't understand" the edge, just buy the JEM anyway, you'll learn it's not that hard.

I'm currently leaning towards the PGM, that's the one I was originally going for anyway, but then I discovered the JEM and it's soo good looking. Anyway, if anyone missed it, I've had a Ibanez RG for ... two and a half years now, I haven't had any major problems with the Edge (except for one time, when I figured it was a good idea to remove all the strings at once, god, I'll never do that again), but I find it so hard to set up and maintain. It keeps it's tuning more or less, but when it does **** up, that's when I'm starting to get problems. Right now for instance, it's detuned to Eb, it just happened against my will and now I can't get it back.. Haha.. So yeah, while I CAN manage the Edges when I really put alot of time and effort into it, but I'd rather not. Really, I'm not even using the tremolo, I just love the string lock system.

So basically, this is more of a 'Good looking JEM' vs 'PGM that suits my needs better'. Whenever I think about it, it's silly, I really should waste that much money on a guitar that I don't want as much, just because it looks better...

The PGM is sex all over. Maple fretboard ftw! Have you tried out either guitar?

No I haven't tried either of them. They don't sell them here, so I'll have to travel to our captial, which is just 40 minutes away anyway when I'm going to buy the guitar. I was going to try to try them there, hopefully I'll find both.

The PGM will be hard to find in a store (which is a shame; it's an awesome guitar) and finding a discontinued JEM in a store is even harder.

Why only look at those two sig models? Neither of the guitars seem to be what you want...having said that the Mick Thomson one might be

^ i'd be looking at vigier if he can get up to the price of that jem...

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

But, yes, Vigier would be worth a look.
