Hi everyone,

I'm looking for good (combo) amps for around 600$.
I don't mind if it is SS or Valve/Tube built...

I mostly want to play rock, going from classic rock to metal...
But a decent sound for blues and clean sound would definitely be a plus

Any suggestions ?

i would definately stick with tube, have owned both SS and tube and there is no comparison. check out a fender blues jr. or if you save a little more, a fender blues deluxe. you can then add a decent distortion pedal for metal. If you only play metal and need a pure metal amp then you'll have to save a little more cause they get pricey for anything worth a damn.

Traynor YCV50 Blue, used 5150 combo on eBay (if you stretch your budget a little bit), Peavey Valveking 112, a used Bugera 6260, a used Peavey Classic 30 combo...
all those amps fit your budget.

I'd prefer to take a "classic" amp rather than a modeling one

No, I won't be gigging at the moment I think, the styles I play are wrote in the initial post.

I just bought the Carvin Vintage 16/5 (tube amp) last week for $415 off the carvin site (including shipping+tax). and I haven't been able to stop playing. It's got great cleans for blues and classic rock type stuff but if you're playing metal you're gonna need a pedal.

For classic rock, I would play rolling stones, beatles, led zepplin, pink floyd, AC/DC...
As for metal I'm into CoB stuff, Pantera, Black Label Society, Slipknot, In Flames...

Take out the valveking and that is a top notch list. which genres do you focus on the most. If you are more metal influenced, 5150 or Bugera. Anything lighter and the traynor and c30 are better.
