What are some powerful classical songs?

For example, Eric Whitacre's Lux Aurumque brings a tear to my eye every time I listen.

This music is beautiful and I just want to be able to listen to more of it...just I don't know too much.

Yes. Especially since it's conducted by Karajan. He never lets me down. Eva.

Also, check out his Beethoven symphony recordings. They're up on Youtube in one piece (awesome). Symphony 7 is my favorite.

The most powerful I can think of now...

The choral Jesus Navin (Joshua) by Mussorgsky. I'm not sure if I've got the title correct.

Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. I particularly like the "In Taberna"... section?

Classical music is bitchin'!

Beethoven:
5th Symphony (and any of them, really) - I know it's overplayed, but it's not overrated, and every time I hear the last minute or so of the first movement, I want to orgasm.
Also, the String Quartets (especially the late ones), are all beautiful, and can be very powerful

Shostakovich:
Any of his symphonies

Bach:
St. Matthew Passion - some of the most sublime music I've heard

Schubert lieder are also really great.

I could go on for ever.

I'm guessing The 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky.

There was meant to be a " " smiley on the end, to further mock his spelling, but it got missed off.

Night on a Bare Mountain by Mussorgsky is a hugely powerful piece of classical music, it really hits you at the start.

Get him into blues. Lyrical depth-not so much. But it is groovy and it is black people's music so if he doesn't enjoy then he is not a true black person.
