it was a fender jazz, it was active, it had 4 strings lol and it was abit different,
i just took a liking to it and i liked the tone

Do you actually call it 'Ricky'? Also, those pictures are the best ones in this thread.

Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass Active 5 string, aint she puurrrrdy?

Will the bass guitars in the £500-£800 range actually be any better than this one cos if never played a high end bass guitar and I'm wondering whterh theyre actually worth it?

My Fender Highway One Jazz Bass (with dtuner and kill switch - push/pull pot)

I've had this almost 3 years, it's been gigged everwhere and played to death. As you can see there are ware marks and a few bumps and scrapes! But i just love it even more for that reason haha! The neck is wore in lovely now and it just feels great to play. I had the dtuner put on about 6 months ago now along with the push/pull kilswitch mainly for live purposes. It stays in tune great, only drifts out when you change the strings but after a few hours playing it stays right in. I carry it around in a Hiscox hardcase (pictured) and use 45-105 Ernie Ball's

Cheers

On the weekend I will post my newest custom that I have almost finished. And this ain't no hack job "custom" This is the real deal!!!
#151
That Jazz a couple of posts up looks like a Jaco bass...a rare example IMO of a Fender that looks better without a pickguard

That's my bass exactly...

...except mine's a Squier with a hand-painted pickguard... well, it's a bass. and i'm poor, so it'll do.

but seriously, it even looks like the same strings on there... unless other brands than fender do the red thread wrap on the ends.

Shit, I'm so pathetic.

That white Squier is a beaute! Looks like Larry G's Japanese Moon Bass.
Here's my beloved Fernandes Atlas. I bought it for 300 bucks, plays and sounds really well.

This post has given me the belief that Fenders/Squiers, Musicmans and Rickenbackers are the best looking basses ever.
#157
Is Musicmans the right term? I've been wondering about that. Musicmen rolls off the tongue better but doesn't look right when it's spelt.
