hey all,

welcome me to ultimate-guitar, too, while you're at it

anyway,

since i know you're all avid readers, i was wondering if there was anyone on these forums who can speed read, or any other form of fast reading.

and if you cant, or even if you can, what are your thoughts on it>?

i can comfortably cruise through a book at about 1000 wpm with great comprehension, but i've been practicing for a while.

anyone else?

I can't speed read proper, as in scan pages and take it all in, but my regular reading is very fast.

I read the final harry potter book in two and a half hours, to put it in context.

Seriously, I read a lot so I probably read fast enough without speed reading.

I read quickly, am I a speed-reader?

(to put that in context I don't read all year then when I go abroad on holiday I get through an average of 1 book per day. And this is real books, not shit like Harry Potter.)
I play by my own rules. And I have one rule; There are no rules... but if there are, they're there to be broken. Even this one.

Confused? Good.

i HATE speed reading. It's like i have to actually work while I'm reading, instead of just relaxing and reading at a comfortable pace. Plus, I normally read at the same pace as someone would speak the words on the page, and if i read faster than that, it takes away from the realism of it all.

I can not speed read, not do I read extremely quickly. That being said, I do not read very slowly either - I just cruise through a book at whatever rate I feel like at that given time. How fast I read really depends on my mood and how into the book I am.

That being said, I do love reading!

Has anyone here ever heard of Howard Berg, or Peter Bissonette?

Howard speed reads, Pete photoreads.

I know how to do both, so I'll share some knowledge of tihs with you.

Howard is able to read at 25,000-30,000 words a minute with great comprehension, though he has a very hard time explaining how to do it just like himself.

Pete has been clocked at 693,000 wpm. Sound crazy? Well he's not consciously reading, nor is any other photoreader. They take in the information at a subconscious or unconscious level. The thing thats upsetting with photoreading is that you skip over certain information that is deemed unnecessary, so you can't help but feeling like you didn't really read the book.

if anyone wants more information on any of these , feel free to ask or message me.

The only words Herman can make out at that kind of speed is "A major 7"

Pics or it didn't happen.

I don't have any, but my pet kitten can vouch for my character.
