I've managed to save my money enough to afford a guitar over £200 and i don't wanna make a huge ****-up on what i buy!
are there any explorer players who could vouch for it?
or anyone who can offer me a decent alternative
i can go up to around £650 at a push but would rather not lol

Get an ESP, EX I think they're called, they're not bad quality, good for a beginner, you could look used, that'll get you an actual gibson on that budget.
Live Rig:
Ibanez Rg 150R w/ Duncan 59s
Marshall JCM2000 TSL60 Head
Mark IV Combo
Marshall 1960a Cab w/ Vintage 30s
Ibanez RG1570 Prestige w/ Duncan 59s
Jackson SLSMG Soloist
Currently in Ontario, Canada.

get a Jackson Kelly...
it's basically an 'updated' explorer...
you'll love it...

they come as cheap as £180...
and they play pretty damn well for that price...

Maybe you should buy a tube amp instead...
Did you know the odds of a Vault-Tec shelter failing are 1,763,497 to 1?

So imagine life in a Vault-Tec Vault. Not just a future.
A brighter future... underground.

Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.

I saw the Marshall MG'S in his gear and I knew someone was going to tell him to get a new amp. It was a matter of time.

If you have the money, go for an Explorer. They are simply amazing. Take it from someone who uses it as his main guitar.

Also check out the Explorer Pro.

Try before you buy.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Save up for a regular Explorer. Don't buy something half decent that's going to have little nuances that will eventually bug the crap out of you. Go on the long haul and get a regular Explorer.

It is real, it just doesn't have the expensive finish or binding of a 'normal' Gibson.

The Gibson Faded range are just the poor man's gibson, the quality is meant to be abit, ew-ish, sometimes. I'd personally suggest the epiphone one, good for money and they sound and loook nice.
What I want in my rig (Bold = gear I have):
Ibanez SZ-520QM
Vintage VECJ100BK
Epiphone Dot
Laney VC15
Boss GE7
Boss SD1
Zoom G2

I suggest looking into the Jackson Kelly Series, they have a good quality for their price. Edwards are also an suggestion, but I haven´t tried out one yet.

I decided to with the epi 'cos it's got a pretty decent spec with EMG humbuckers and a nice Floyd Rose bridge
it plays nicely, and since i'm also starting to drive and will need to be affording lessons i'd rather get a good epi than a poor gibson. As Matt Dolan said (Y)
Apart from the people who said ditch my marshall, thanks for help + suggestions

dude i dont know about the explorer faded models but i know that the SG faded is amazing for the price. really the only dif between the Faded models and the Standard models are cosmetic things (at least on the SG) but know that since they are faded u have to keep them in their case cause i u leave them out then the neck will get warped.
