After I finish paying off my Traynor, I plan to throw new pickups in all 3 positions of my Strat; probably not all at once, but at least one after the other. I want to cover a variety of guitarists' sounds:

(excerpt from profile, too lazy to type them all out)

"Jimi Hendrix, Tony Iommi, Jimmy Page, Edward Van Halen, Brian May, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson, Dave Murray, Duane Allman... probably some more... Still, Eric Johnson is phenomenal. And Mark Knopfler. How one man can play so fluently and technically with his fingers is beyond me."

Ahem, yes. I'm thinking I want a SD Hotrails in the ol' bridge. But I'm lost as to what the middle and neck pickups should be, while keeping a fairly maintainable balance between all those guitarists listed above.

I don't really have a budget, since they're... well, they're pickups. Any ideas, feel free to toss 'em out there. Thanks.

I'm not a big fan of the hot rails. I think the super distortion would suit you better

I was hoping to have a Hot Rails in there, but it says that Adrian Smith uses this Super Distortion... so that's fine by me. I'm assuming it's better than a Rails?

Does he? Because I thought he used Hot Rails too... Its been a few years back but the last time I checked Smith was using Hot Rails and Texas Specials.

But then again, guitarists are constantly changing their rigs...
