I tried to play Ready To Fall from Rise Against and I found this tap:

----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
-8888-9999-11111111-9999-9\
-xxxx--xxxx--x-x-x-x-----xxxx--x\
-6666-7777-9-9-9-9----7777--7\
----------------------------------------

This is the final part of the intro

and when I play this it sounds terrible!
I put my fingers on the 6th fret and 8th fret (for the first part) and put a finger above the D string to mute it.

Can someone help me and tell me what i'm doing wrong?

Don't actually press the D string down, sort of have you finger lightly above it so when you play it on it's own it shouldn't make a sound.
meh

well you're doing it properly from what you described so i have no idea what you're doing wrong, i tend to mute the middle string with my index finger laying across it from fretting the A string, maybe try that.

yea that does sound like sh*t

maybe that band just sucks?

rise against isnt that bad (i think if their the band i think they are)
anyways TS do it like you would form ad powerchord but instead you only need your fingers for the root and the octave with your finger that holds the root note barely touching the middle string so it doesnt resonate and there you go you get your (cant remeber the actual name) chord

Yep, that's Ready To Fall, alright.

1) Tune your guitar
2) Don't use an acoustic, this sounds like arse
3) Turn the distortion up real high to disguise how bad this sounds when played correctly.

thanks guys, it sounds better now but sometimes I can really hear the muted note

the first part with the 6x8, i could semi-understand why you might get a sound there cause depending how you have your middle finger(I'm guessing over the 7th fret), you might be doing a harmonic... idk...

thats what i think too, maybe you could press a little harder into the string your muting, or with a wider area, so it would be harder for the harmonic to sound
