I'm pretty certain I want to give this pedal a try, but I was wondering... there are so many different versions and such of the tubescreamer with different chips circuitry, etc, are all the OD9's the same or are there different versions as well? thank you and have good day.

I've heard about all those different chips but I don't think you'll notice much difference unless you're a crazy tone freak...

Anyway I have an Ibanez TS9 which I believe is the same as the OD9 and it is awesome

All Maxon OD9's should be identical, current production ones anyway

There are different types of OD-9's actually:
Overdrive Pro+ : http://www.maxonfx.com/9/od9+/
Organic: http://www.maxonfx.com/9/ood9/
Overdrive/Soft Distortion: http://www.maxonfx.com/9/osd9/
Vintage Overdrive Pro: http://www.maxonfx.com/9/vop9/

They're all 50 bucks more than the standard OD-9, which is $150.
