Yep. Got myself an Epiphone Valve Junior from MF, it should be here soon. I'll be playing an Ibanez RG2EX2 through it, soon a Telecaster too. Anything mods that people recommend for it? I honestly play as much clean stuff as I do heavier metal. I have an RP250, and it suits me just fine for now. I'm thinking a Fish & Chips EQ pedal and maybe a distortion pedal of some type.

I know nothing about switching out speakers and wiring and all that, but I'm willing to learn.

i have the fish n chips with mines, works awesome. i recommend a master volume, and a tone knob for added eq, and to get some tube od at low volumes. and if u play a lot clean, u may want to add some tubes to increase the wattage and giving u more headroom, as it beings to break up around halfway with stock tubes.

i also put a v-30 speaker in it, pretty big difference.

you're gonna need some kind of boost to get anywhere near metal, that's for sure.

i haven't modded mine yet, can't help you there...

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Play the amp first and see how you like it. An eq pedal would save you having to put in a tone control. As I understand the later version 3, EVJ which you most likely have seeing as you just bought it is pretty good stock. Have you bought the combo version by the way.

Thanks guys! And Stujomo, I did buy the combo version.

I have the combo too. It is good because it is portable but the 8 inch speaker really does limit the amp somewhat. It really is not a metal amp and I feel the amp sounds much better through a larger speaker. I find the combo to have quite a lot of mid range. One day I will try to fit a 10 inch speaker into the combo. As I said before try to play the amp for a while to get an idea of what tone you want from it. Give yourself a good few months with it to get to know it. You may find you like it just fine stock. One thing is that it is very loud when you crank it to get the power tubes to break up and as you start to get towards max on the dial it gets a bit harsh. I still find mine works better with single coils for a nice bluesy sound.

Alright, I'll keep it stock for a while and break it in! I'm getting a Telecaster soon so there's my single coils. I'm thinking of getting a Stratocaster sometime this winter too.
