I've got my guitar tuned down a half step at the moment and I want to know what songs to learn/ What bands play a half step down.

I know about Iced Earth and Yngwie Malmsteen any suggestions?

P.S I play metal

I really like Fates Warning now that you introduced me to them!

What is it with you people?!

No one has said Van Halen! Basically everything with David Lee Roth (when they were still Van Halen) is in Eb more or less!

Learn anything you want that's in standard, Eb or D standard, you just won't be able to play along with the recording but that's not exactly the end of the world.

If you've got any common sense then you can play anything that was written in standard and just transpose up a half step so you'll even be in key.

Almost all srv is in Eb.
For Hendrix: Manic depression, Voodoo Child (slight return), Little Wing
#26
As mentioned, Protest the Hero (most of it is REALLY fun to play, check out Bloodmeat). Also, some awesome Buckethead stuff is in Eb, check out the entire "Decoding the Tomb of Bansheebot" album (Asylum of Glass is a fun song)

Tune down half a step, then drop your low E to Db and rock out to Unchained

But just like the seagull said just cause the song is in standard doesn't mean you can't play it being tuned down half a step or vice versa. I got my guitar tuned down half a step and play both tunings.

You can play any song in Eb that you can in standard.

There's no law that says you have to play songs in the same key that they were recorded in.

a lotta metallica
all hendrix(at least i think all)
all Guns N roses(pretty sure)

Metallica didn't start to use Eb after Black Album...
Hendrix used it on everything after Are You Experienced? (besides a few track, most of the album is in standard)
Appetite is Eb only. However for Use Your Illusion a lot of stuff is in standard. At least songs that feature keyboards.

Winger, all their stuff should keep you busy for a while, also everything Mr. Big has done is pretty difficult, but its in Standard.

Ace Frehly from KISS always tunes in Eb.
SRV usually tunes down 1/2 step also, like Hendrix.
