Are you saying that the Killswitch En-gay-ge cover is better than the original?

Yeah.

The original was alright, I don't like Killswitch Engage, but it was better than the original.

both versions are good in theyre own right...but ultimately Dio wins cuz theyre Dio and theyre awesome like that plus they made the song and it was already awesome, Killswitch just put theyre own spin on it and it was alright.

hurt by NIN/cash. cash is better, though i don't think the orig. is really that bad...

Another one would be *flameshield* like a rolling stone or all along the watchtower covered by jimi. Can't stand Bob dylan

i think the Knocking On Heavens Door by Bob Dylan was good, but there are 2 amazing covers: Bob Marley and Guns N' Roses.

also, live and let die, the GNR cover is much better than Paul Mcartney.

Disturbed covered "Land of Confusion" by Genesis and "Shout" by some crappy 80's band and they're both alot better than the originals.

They're both awful.

Really, I dig the Rihanna covers.

Edit: I forgot about the Children of Bodom covers, those are pretty rad.

To the above, Children of Bodom didnt cover The Final Countdown, but I agree thats an amazing cover of a ****ty song.

I prefered MAchine head's Battery to Metallica's. More aggressive sounding.

Final Countdown
covered by Children Of Bodom
or their cover of Looking Out My Back Door

Bodom never covered the Final Countdown, it was either Norther or some other band that I can't remember.
But yeah my vote goes to Oops I did it again covered by Children of Bodom.

Well, not awful, but Jimi Hendrix's cover of All Along the Watchtower.
"A war is coming, I've seen it in my dreams. Fires sweeping through the earth, bodies in the streets, cities turned to dust. Retaliation..."

I hate it when people use that as an example of a "great cover". The Bee Gees did it much better in '77 when it first came out. "Froosh" just took the guitar chords and added his crappy voice to it. I mean, just listen to him try to hit those high notes. Ugghhh. I don't see how you can call this an awesome cover compared to the original : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpRFeJEG6_o

Edit: Even this band did it better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjuRVFMkf0I

it's much better than the crap by tool

tool are probably one of the most overrated, junk, fake, hypocritical pieces of **** bands to fill this planet these days though, so it isn't much effort to do a better cover of their work.

OK, maybe not "AWESOME LOLOLOLOLOL!!!1!!1!!!!@@" but i think it is better than The bee gees. I can't stand the original. it is just so awful. that synth and everything. GOD.

EDIT: and take that's version is even worse than bee gees.

there's no synth in the song. A rhodes piano and a string section is in the song.

A day to remember's cover of Since U been gone by kelly clarkson.

They made it actually listenable.

The Sunn O))) cover of For Whom the Bell Tolls destroys the Metallica original. Sunn's version is called "F.W.T.B.T (I Dream of Lars Ulrich Being Thrown Through the Bus Window Instead of My Mystikal Master Kliff Burton)"

Well, not awful, but Jimi Hendrix's cover of All Along the Watchtower.

Agreed, All Along the Watchtower was fairly straightforward/boring but Hendrix took it to a whole new level. He tended to do that.

Also, I love Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt. I like NIN's version too, but Cash does it really well.

i dont know if this really counts but i always liked 'mechanix' from Megadeth more than 'the four horseman' from Metallica. For those who don't know what im talking about its basically the same song with a different name.

When you can write music that inspires millions, then, I'll start considering listening to your ignorance.

I love Tool's cover of No Quarter. I'm not saying Zeppelin's is awful, it's amazing. I like each version of the song in its own way. I just, like Tool's version a little more.
