From my 3 week trip to India. Though its a little overshadowed by John Swift's return...

But anyway, bass-wise, I have a problem. Actually, 3 problems. I'm playing considerably slower now. Probably like 80% before. My callices have gone away entirely. And my endurance has gone to hell. I'm a little worried about the first and last.

So am I overreacting to my situation? I know the callices will come back with a month or so of hard playing, but the other two have me a little irked.

i play all the time and have no callouses, people tell me im not playin hard enough or fretting right but a bass teacher i know says i am

This happens to me all the time. I'll, say, not play my saxophone or bass for a month and come back to it and be much slower but...better. I won't miss frets without looking for them or not lay my finger down correctly to fret multiple strings, it'll just come naturally.

I couldn't do it [masturbate] with the cast on however. That's when I dug out my baby sister's stuffed animals and went to town

Is it bad that I imagined you saying that in a really sexy voice?

You're over reacting.

You'll be fine, just warm up with random stuff and then play what you used too.

Welcome back!

I was gone on vacation in June for 10 days with no bass playing. I couldn't believe the difference when I came back. I still haven't got my speed back to what it was
#12
Yeah, i had the same issues after my holiday. Within three days of solid practice everything will be fine and dandy. One thing that happened to me when i got back was that my bass was all out of whack for a little while. It was almost like she was angry at me for leaving.
Now, a question of etiquette - as I pass, do I give you the ass or the crotch?
#13
I had that a little when I went to India for a month. Callouses were fine though, since we were doing a lot of building work in a remote village school. It'll come back quickly though. You're just a little out of practice.

However, I do hope you exposed yourself to Indian music and try to incorporate it into your own style.

I for sure listened to a load of Indian music, the pop stuff, and some of the more traditional stuff.

What's the Indian pop music like? And how does bass fit into the mix with both it and traditional Indian music?

Its fairly in the front, the stuff sounded kinda fun to play. Though the music was very average. There was a little bit of slap. I guess it reminded me a LITTLE of Latin bass.
