I was wondering if anyone knows any sports that people start to train at an older age to play competitively. I wanted to try something new and I'm 18 years old. I'm trying to quit smoking and get back in shape ( I used to be a star at sports ) and I need some motivation. All I've come up with is javelin ( usually around 16-17 years old )

So if anyone knows any sports of this sort I'd be glad if you could help me brainstorm. The Games are really motivating you know.

Yeah rowing and cycling seem like good ideas. Oh forgot to mention. I am 199 cm tall ( 6 foot 6 inches ) and I weigh around 95 kg ( 210 lbs )

Get together your own (american) football, baseball, or basketball league.

Just run and ride bikes a lot, toss around a baseball, stuff like that.

American football is something I enjoy watching. There are two leagues in Poland and I'm signing up to become a certified referee.

18 is not old. I know people that have competed at a high level in sports they only took up at uni.

there are plenty of sports for elderly people. like golf, shuffleboard...and dying. that ones always a favorite
