im building a strat with rails in the bridge and neck, which will be coil split. i hear that 500k pots work better with humbuckers and 250k with single coils due to the difference in brightness. but if the rails will be coil split, which should i go with? muddy humbuckers just kill me, but i dont want my singles to be too bright either...

please help.

sorry if this has been posted.

use 500k as the rails are humbuckers. thats something you need to deal with.

and 250k are too weak for most humbuckers.

i see a lot of people recommend doing 500k for volume and 250k for tone. what does this really do? or should i just do 500k for both.

also, i will be putting a bridge single coil in the middle position, will the 500k pot make it too bright? or will it balance the fact that its not all the way in the bridge?

500k pots would be fine, also, the bridge S/C pickup in the middle shouldn't be a huge difference. I have a bridge S/C in the neck position of my Frankenstrat ( with a SH-8 @ the bridge) and it sounds great with the 500k's I've got in there ( oh yeah, no middle pickup ) even with the coils split
