Well the Spider 3 I have is crappy of course, but I didnt know any better, and now I need a good tube amp, so my question is a Valve Jr. + a Metal Muff = Metal? (Metallica, 80's metal, Slash lead tone, etc.) I dont want to spend too much but if I have to, I've also heard good things about Randall and B-52's mid price combos

EDIT: What about a Bad Monkey/Tube Screamer or a Big Muff Pi?

i get a great metal tone with a modded vj and a metal muff. i use a bad monkey for classic rock tone. i don't have the epi cab i play thru a celestion g12k.

so the muff can't really do classic rock (like overdrive Marshall JVM?)

My VJ loves pedals - sounds great with my Multi-Effects too!
Now running an Eleven Rack with Pro Tools 10.3.3 - it's amazing and I'm having ball with it - worth every penny. PT 10 is tops IMO and the Eleven Rack is a work of art!

You're funny : |

Personally, I like the Metal Muff. If you are judging by the videos or word-of-mouth, you need to try it for yourself. At the very least, it's astoundingly better than the BOSS metal distortion pedals.

If you play with a band, the VJ won't cut it. If you play by yourself, you might be better off saving a few hundred bucks, and just getting a Cube.
