So yes, as you can tell I would like to buy a new guitar.

Very soon I will get my GCSE results and my parents will be giving me some money (it was an incentive to do well in my exams).

So, I have looked around for a versatile, comfortable guitar and to me it seems that an Epi LP standard looks good.

Is this a good guitar for me? or can you suggest better ones for around the same price?

Bear in mind:

- This will be my second guitar (only been playing 9 months on a really bad starter strat copy)

- I do like to play lots of metal but also mix it up with some classic rock and modern rock.

- I want to do some face melting solos (well, when I am half decent that is) but I also want to do some heavy dropped tuning riffs.

Thanks in advance

(In no particular order)

1. Jackson Dinky
2. Ibanez RG
3. Epiphone Les Paul (switch out the pickups though)
4. MIM Strat

I think the Ibanez RG is your best bet.
