well, im about to start on my first custom gutiar, and i would like you guys to pick which i do first,(im building the other one later on)

so the first one will be a SG similar to this:
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-SG-CustomEX-with-EMG-8185-Pickups-Electric-Guitar?sku=515622
possibly diff color but otherwise pretty smiliar

--or--

this one i designed myself

the pickups would be EMG 81,60. with a booster, killswitch and a peizo bridge.

so which will it be?

sg
EDIT: I've always felt that 2 Volume/2 Tone on an SG is too many, I think 2 Volume/1 Tone is better in terms of looks
Current Gear:
LTD MH-400 with Gotoh GE1996T (EMG 85/60)
PRS SE Custom 24 (Suhr SSH+/SSV)
Ibanez RG3120 Prestige (Dimarzio Titans)
Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz V
Audient iD22 interface
Peavey Revalver 4, UAD Friedman BE100/DS40

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Go with the one you designed, it will be original and you can feel proud that your first custom guitar was one that's entirely you and not a copy.

I'd normally agree...but I just don't like the second option. So -

^ I don't like it either, but obviously he does, so that would be an awesome way of expressing himself. I would make a few change suggestions.

TS: Why is it between such a round-ish (kind of) classy guitar(shape, that is) and a monster like the one you designed?

well, i want to own an sg, but i dont feel like putting money i dont have out for one, so i'd rather build it. the "monster" is just something i drew up when i was bored and it just kinda stuck to me. i do plan on stretching the body out on it though.

If you measured it out to scale length and drew that thing up in full size, you might have something really cool on your hands.

I'm all for the original design.... but maybe you should consider some things you like so much about the SG and integrate them into your design? Maybe its as simple as the profile curves down the sides.. you stretch the horns and the tail off from the same shape and might feel pretty similar in your lap or hanging from a strap.

What I'm thinking is, you get a tracing of the SG or even a full size plan, then trace out the shape and start modifying from there.

The cost of creating your custom guitar is going to be pretty damn close to buying the actual SG.

well i made a descion, i will be doing the sg, becuase its an easier build, so that way when i do mine, (which is more complicated) i wont have to worry about it as much. then i hit a snag, i cant find a 24 3/4" through neck anywere(thats not custom) and i cant use ebay.
so im gonna be doing this shape http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/ESP-LTD-EX400-Electric-Guitar?sku=512028
and well as far as paint, i dunno yet. we'll see.
