I posted this in the EG section against my own better judgement and someone then told me it should go here, so without further ado...

Something I'm noticing as a bit of a problem on the newly acquired Donais model is the nut is slotted for 10's and the 11's I've fitted don't quite "glide" in the nut as is. I'll tune said string to pitch and it will be fine for a few moments, than it goes DRASTICALLY out of tune.

I have a few fine files I could use to open up the slots and I've done this before on bone nuts, but never a graphite nut like the one this guitar is equipped with. Is there anything I should watch out for or could I just give it a gentle once over and hope for the best?

I figure I could also just kind of rasp the slot with the string and that oughta open it up but its not quite as precise a course of action.

Yep, works like bone.. a little harder to file, but thats good as it will keep you from filing too much.

Just don't cut much downward.
All my photobucket pics are dead so no links to my guitar build threads.
