This thread is probably as doomed to fail as every bluegrass thread in the past but everyone SHOULD love John Hartford enough to keep it afloat.

John Hartford is a fiddler/singer/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter who wrote "Gentle On My Mind" which is one of the most recorded songs of all time. He also had a really quirky solo career which included the album "Aero Plain" which is arguably the most important album in all of progressive bluegrass because it basically kicked off the movement. It is out of print now (even though you can buy a collection of outtakes from it off Itunes) but if you search you can find the album on the internet and I reccomend it to anyone, even if you aren't remotely interested in bluegrass music.
