I've downloaded what is supposed to be a video file from rapidshare, but the problem is that it's titled as follows:

http.://rapidshare.com/files/edited out numbers/nameoffile.001
I downloaded it and couldn't open it, so I checked the comments and it said to rename it with a .avi at the end. I did that, and tried to open it, but it didn't work. Any help?

EDIT: I've tried renaming the file to:

nameoffile.001.avi
nameoffile001.avi

nameoffile.001.avi

nameoffile001.avi

It says: nameoffile001.avi is not a valid Win32 application.

It might be a multiple part rar file, in which case you would need to download the rest of the parts and unarchive it with Winrar.

The link to the file was just this:

http.://rapidshare.com/files/edited out numbers/nameoffile.001

And that link worked. That's all, and apparently, it somehow worked for other people when downloaded. The other links (the whole video is broken up into multiple files) follow the same format. There's no .rar or .avi or anything else.

Try redownloading the file and just replacing the .001 with .avi. Don't do multiple periods. Also, try opening the file with VLC media player.

That's what I was thinking too, which is why I asked if it was a .zip or .rar.

But wouldn't they all come together on the same page? Unless our TS didn't notice the other parts ...

But with it being addressed as "file 1" then one would assume there is file #2, 3, 4, etc.

Usually when I deal with a multiple part file they're all on the same page, and then you extract the first and winrar will compile it together.

It's a split file. You probably need HJsplit to join the other parts of the file (which you eill need too, ofc)

Alright, another problem!

I downloaded the second video, added .avi, and tried to open it with VLC media player. It said this:

Unrecognized format for 'C:\Documents and Settings\name\Desktop\name.002.avi'

Jeez that must be some good porn if you go though all this trouble.

And, again you've named it with 2 periods. Get rid of the .002 part, so it's only:

C:\Documents and Settings\name\Desktop\name.avi

I've tried getting rid of the other period, and it didn't work. I tried inserting a period into the file that works (the first file) and it still worked.
