You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

I doubt they'd make fake epiphones, but ask for a picture of the headstock, as well as the back and check the serial number.

well considering how i got a fake epi black beauty recently... like a week ago (but returned and refunded, thankfully)
If i have any doubt personally i would avoid it

for a short time theres been a tremendous number of fake epi black beauties on ebay... and i know a lot of people bought them (well including me i guess, though it turned out nicely cause the guy accepted returns)

get a close up photo of the headstock and the serial number, its very strange (at least to me) that he would not include a picture of the headstock...

Ya it's a little hard to tell on that pic because it ends just at the headstock, which I'm hoping is just a coincidence. But ya...the most important pic is the headstock, I think at least.

I'm going to say fake. Just because there isn't the pictures to prove it's authenticity.
If it had more pictures I could make up my mind.

Request pictures of the front, back, and sides of the headstock.
Signatures are overrated.

There's thousands more fake Epiphones than real ones on Ebay.
