I just downloaded my first jazz album of itunes, miles davis- kind of blue and i was amazed. Ive been missin out on a whole genre thats simply amazing, so can you guys reccomend me any other great jazz albums to start my collection.
Check out Stanley Jordan. I'm not even sure he's classified as Jazz but he's still great
Now officially has too much gear to list

PM me if you want to know about my recording setup
i'd like to get into some of this stuff too actually. there was some jazz on the radio the other day and i was lovin it
Well Kind of Blue is the example of cool jazz, so my reccomendations would be:

Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vanguard (Particularly for Mr. LaFaro's bass playing.)
Bill Frisell - East/West (Great jazz guitarist, who isn't afraid to play with the Genre)
If you liked Kind Of Blue check out Nefertiti which is another album by Miles Davis and is my favorite of his. Also look for Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out, Thelonious Monk - Genius Of Modern Music and John Coltrane - Giant Steps, all great stuff.
