Im looking at painting this strat sometime soon and I have found the paint and the clear coat but what color should I primer it with? Im painting the guitar Pewter Gray with a clear lacquer. Should I use gray or white or something else for the primer? thanks for the help

will like a white bring out a lighter coat of pewter than if I did it with a black or gray one?

I suppose that depends on the opacity of your pewter colorcoat. I've read in the biggest Tele forum that some old school Reds were on top of Gold primer. *shrugs*

What's important is a nice overall finish.

It will work but I don't recommend it. It's Enamel, look for Acrylic Lacquer.

In the lasy few pages of the sticky, I differentiated the old Acrylic Krylon from the new Enamel Krylon.
