That is good for rock/alternative (Muse,Audioslave etc) and Metal (Metallica, Trivium) and a bit of everything else!
Some thoughts i have had to get you started:

Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100 (good enough??)

Peavey 6505 (can i get good low dist tones out of it, eg muse Kings of Leon etc.)

I have a about £500-£600 to spend on a head (i might go a bit higher for something truly fat), i will try suggestions out, but i need to know which to try!

Fire away!
